Though rooted in the sea, the menu at Savory Roots unfolds like a thoughtful celebration of the Gulf Coast’s rich culinary heritage, offering more than just seafood—each plate carries a touch of local personality and warmth. From hearty, comforting poboys to inventive twists like smoked tuna dip and blackened shrimp nachos, the flavors feel familiar yet fresh, perfect for those seeking a genuine taste of the region’s tradition with a hint of surprise. The presence of classic comfort dishes alongside daily specials speaks to a kitchen confident in its craft, inviting diners to return often and discover something new with every visit.

We had the lunch special of red beans and rice w/fish filet, bowl of gumbo and smoked tuna salad. All were excellent. The smoked tuna was my favorite. When in the area, I will return.

Finally made it by here today. Been wanting to go for a few years. I only ordered a burger and fries (Thursdays lunch special) to go and some bread pudding. Let me tell you, I've been missing out!. From first bite of the burger I could tell their food is amazing. The burger was one of the best ive had. And the bread pudding was also some of the best I've had. Mind you this was after driving home about 30 minutes to eat. I wish I would have eaten there. I can't wait to go back and try more of the food. I know it's going to be fantastic. The service was excellent as soon as I opened the door until I left. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

First time customers here. Husband had the redfish special; I had the catfish. Both were delicious with unique flavors and the presentation of the dishes was impressive. The restaurant itself was very clean and the entire waitstaff was friendly and VERY attentive. Can't wait to return. The salads and poboys look fantastic!

Great space, flavors were great on the burgers but the burger patty was one of the worst we've had, hoping both mine and my husband's were a mistake. The fries were great just wish this place had a bar. Also thought it was interesting how their appetizers cost as much as a entree

What a hidden gem, quiet atmosphere and great food. We had appetizers and the portions were amazing. Blackened shrimp natchos and the Pig fries (sweet potato fries smothered in the best pulled pork I've ever had).

Prepared well, but the chips seemed to be over seasoned this time. Service: the service was excellent. The manager recognized me from a few months back. That is always nice. Food: Trout with chips and green beans: everything seemed to be cooked well. The fish was pan fried, the chips were crispy, and the beans were cooked appropriately. I couldn’t tell if it was just the chips that were over seasoned or if the fish and the green beans were over seasoned as well. It wasn’t unpalatable. SPECIAL Red fish with stuffing and asparagus: The sauces was a white sauce and had the right amount of flavor. The sauce paired very well with the fish and stuffing. Worth the price. Everything was cooked perfectly. Orange cream cake: Oh so delicious. The cake was moist, but not soggy. The whipped topping was light and was nicely sweetened, if it was sweetened at all. I can really tell chef is behind all of this and I appreciate the food from savory roots. I will be visiting again!
